Kilmarnock's regeneration has received a boost with work now taking place on site to create a new office development at 21 West Langlands Street.
The development of a new two-storey modern office development with associated car parking, received full planning consent in July, and will bring new life onto a brownfield site on a key route into the town centre.
The site, which is located close to the Railway Station and in easy walking distance of the town centre, will provide an office base for the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration. It is understood that the development will initially accommodate up to 30 jobs.
Councillor Douglas Reid, Leader of the East Ayrshire Council said: "This is a great boost for Kilmarnock, both in terms of creating new jobs and through the environmental improvements the development of this vacant site will bring to this part of the town. It is very positive to see work starting on site already."
Councillor Jim Buchanan, Spokesperson for Environment and Regeneration said: "The Council is committed to encouraging employers and businesses to locate in Kilmarnock, and I am greatly encouraged by the development of this new office accommodation. This new office facility, coupled with the office development at Strand Street, helps to support the Council's regeneration strategy and establish Kilmarnock as a place to shop, work, live and enjoy."
