Landlords and University Students are now better informed of their rights and responsibilities thanks to a series of training courses organised by Stirling Council's Housing Service.
More than 150 landlords took part in the training courses on tenancy agreements, deposits, recovery of possession, dealing with repairs and antisocial behaviour. Facilitated by TC Young solicitors, Glasgow, which has specialist knowledge in this area; the courses focused on various aspects of property and tenancy management and updated landlords on changes that may impact on the private rented market.
Feedback from the people attending was that the courses left them better informed of both their obligations and responsibilities as a landlord as well as the responsibilities of their tenants.
Stirling University Students were helped to understand a bit more about landlord and tenant 'good practice' and what they should expect when they go to rent a property for example; on how much deposit they should be paying. This session was run by Shelter.
Stirling Council's Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Housing Strategy Councillor Alasdair MacPherson said: "The training courses have been very successful giving landlords, letting agents and students the opportunity to fully understand current legislation and best practice in the private rented market."
