The £8m Regeneration of a Dundee community has been recognised with a prestigious national award.
Members of the Stobswell Community Forum and the Dundee Partnership were in Edinburgh on Thursday (March 12) to receive the Scottish Award for Quality in Planning for the Stobswell Regeneration Project.
Now in its 12th year the award is presented by the Royal Town Planning Institute in Scotland and the Scottish Government to recognise creativity and quality in the planning process.
The Stobswell Regeneration Project was launched in 2001 to recreate the area as an attractive place to live and work by forming strong partnerships that would direct investment through a projects action plan.
After seven years of targeted investment the residential and commercial sectors have been improved and new developments have created more choice for householders and tenants.
The project's success has meant it has now been adopted as a model for meeting the needs of other regeneration areas in Dundee.
Officials from Dundee City Council were accompanied at the ceremony by Ina Brown, Dundee Citizen of the Year 2008 and chairperson of the Stobswell Forum, as well as key representatives of the Dundee Partnership.
