The City of Edinburgh Council's skatepark design team have met with a Dundee City Council counterpart to discuss their experience of developing a skatepark.
Dundee's 1,000m2 facility, completed in 2006, has been hailed a great success and the Edinburgh team have been getting valuable pointers on design and development issues.
City of Edinburgh Council Sports Leader Deidre Brock said: "Dundee's skatepark has had a fantastic impact in the area and we want to emulate that here in Edinburgh.
"Being able to draw on their vast experience is a real help to our team in these early stages and will help to make sure we get the best possible facility at Saughton Park."
City Planners passed proposals in December to create a £750,000 Skatepark at Edinburgh's Saughton Park. A 2,100m2 facility will incorporate beginner areas, intermediate ramps and challenging competition standard features and is intended for use by children and beginners as well as experts.
Plans have been be referred to Scottish Ministers for their approval.
