Stewart Milne Complete Aberdeen Campus For Acergy

Stewart Milne Construction has completed work on a 17.5 acre development at Westhill Business Park, Aberdeen, creating a new campus for major seabed-to-surface engineering and construction contractor, Acergy UK Limited.

The project, which was the result of a competition set by Acergy, comprises four buildings set in extensive landcaped grounds with the main office premises set around a central lochan.

The 12,000 sq m main office building is in two wings with offices either side of a reception atrium, and includes a staff restaurant and cafeteria. The site also includes an engineering workshop (6,800 sq m) and hard standing, as well as staff sports facilities extending to a four court hall, dance studio, squash court and gym.

The campus has been constructed with the environment in mind, incorporating energy saving features which include daylight and movement sensitive lighting controls, grey water harvesting, passive chilled beam cooling and a geothermal heat source system. The site will also utilise the advance Wetlands SUDS treatment adjacent to the business park, which was created by the Stewart Milne Group in conjunction with Aberdeenshire Council and working with SEPA and Scottish Water.

Acergy has signed a 20-year lease with Stewart Milne Developments for the new premises, which can house as many as 800 people.

Bill Imlach, MD of Stewart Milne Construction, said: "This is a flagship project for Stewart Milne Construction working on behalf of and together with our colleagues on the development side of Stewart Milne.

"We have already delivered a number of projects at Westhill which is proving a very popular business location. The Acergy campus has been an excellent demonstration of our capability in constructing sustainable developments and the end result is one that is both high quality and sympathetic to the surrounding environment."
