Permanite Engineered Roofing Systems has completed the installation of 16,000m2 of its market leading PermaTEC hot melt system on the flat roof areas of The Elements shopping development in Livingstone, Scotland. The system was installed by BriggsAmasco Limited.
The Elements is a new £130m, 34,838m2 development which will feature 34 retail units, five restaurants, a state-of-the-art car park and over 2,000m2 of leisure space. The Elements is scheduled to open October 2008.
Hot melt waterproofing is increasingly being used on new retail developments and 15,000m2 of PermaTEC has also been specified for the £250m Union Square shopping centre development in Aberdeen (Scotland's second largest shopping centre), as well as the Eagle's Meadow retail park in Wrexham, where PermaTEC is being used to waterproof 15,000m2 of roof area and 7000m2 of podium car park.

PermaTEC is simple to design, estimate and, most importantly, install. Most waterproofing systems are challenged when tasked to detail around difficult penetrations like steel 'I' beams, balustrade posts, mansafe posts and other complications which are commonplace on new developments. PermaTEC is extremely effective at dealing with these details, which is why specialist contractors feel confident in promoting the system.
