As one of the UK’s most-respected newspaper groups, Scotsman Publications Limited, owned by Johnston Press, recently upgraded its fuel management system in its Edinburgh depot with the help of Titan Environmental and Brogan Fuels. With its fleet of 30 vehicles, the Edinburgh Depot services the city, Fife and West Lothian areas for Edinburgh Evening News deliveries.
Titan Environmental, the number one brand in fuel storage solutions, and Brogan Fuels, one of Scotland’s largest independent fuel providers, were brought in to advise the newspaper on the most up-to-date technology and fuel storage that would meet its requirements. With the continuous price hikes in fuel, it was important to ensure that all fuel was accounted for and Derick Cochrane from Scotsman Publications contacted locally-owned Brogan Fuels to tender for the contract.
As experts in the field, Titan and Brogan Fuels were able to address one of the paper’s main concerns – fuel wastage and security - and the Titan / Brogan Fuels submission for the work was also the most cost-effective solution for the paper.
John Walsh, from Titan Environmental, said: "For fuel storage, we worked closely with our distributors, Brogan Fuels, to advise the customer on one of Titan’s latest innovations - the Titan FuelMaster 10,000 litre tank – a totally bunded fuel storage and dispensing system. This product both facilitated the depot’s capacity requirements and guaranteed longevity of the tank. The new design combines performance with strength. The key is in the materials – a plastic inner tank is encapsulated by a steel outer tank offering strength and robust security.
"In addition, to address fuel management, we installed Titan’s Cube Management System. This operates as a check and a balance system whereby each driver in the fleet has an individual key. The driver must register when dispensing fuel, thus tracking its usage. There’s a master key for the Distribution Manager and the device’s sophisticated memory allows for all transactions to be recorded. It’s one of the newest innovations in the market and is increasingly popular with distribution companies as operation costs continue to spiral."
