Mayfield Construction Co. Ltd got into the swing recently by taking part in two golf events.
The first was Mayfield's company golf event, followed by a charity golf day for Zoe's Place, during which more than £8k was raised for the UK’s only baby hospice.
During the first event, employees teed off alongside clients, guests and suppliers at Houghwood Golf Club in St Helens for their third annual company golf day. The day also doubled as a practice run prior to participating in the charity golf event for Zoe's Place. The practice paid off as Mayfield went on to win the team event.
Dave Noar, Group Managing Director, McKean Group, of which Mayfield is a division, said: "The golf season is in full swing for us. We were delighted to host our third company golf day, which gets bigger and better each year, but more importantly we were delighted to help raise money for Zoe's Place, our chosen charity for the year."
Zöe's Place is the only baby hospice in the UK. They provide 24 hour one-to-one respite and palliative nursing care for infants aged 0-5 with life threatening or life limiting conditions.
During Mayfield's event, golfers were split into 12 teams before teeing off and going head to head for the prizes, which included a car, Taylor Made golf clubs, golf lessons and a trolley bag. Lee Brooks from White Young Green, took first place to win the golfing jacket and club, Barry Williams of Neptune was a close second.
The winning team on the day was Team 4 including David McFarlane of McKean & Co, Kevin Robertshaw of Bank of Scotland, Nicholas Schofield of PWS and Thomas Jones of Advantage Civil Engineering Products.
Kevin Duffy, Director of Mayfield, said: "We're delighted that many of our suppliers and clients were able to join us and make the day such a success. The rain may have been pouring down but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits.
"If we get anymore practice in this season Tiger Woods will have to watch out."
