A technical manager at Robertson Timberkit has become one of the first people in Scotland to be formally elected as a technician member of the world-renowned Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).
John Simpson, technical manager Robertson Timberkit's Stirling headquarters, believes the accreditation will further enhance client confidence in the company.
The endorsement means Mr Simpson can now use the 'TIStructE' (Technician Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers) designation.
The 29-year-old said: "I believe that this accreditation will instil even greater confidence in the professionalism of Robertson Timberkit throughout our client base.
"I'm now pushing the merits of continual development to all my team and encouraging them to work towards similar accreditations."
Robertson Timberkit is one of 11 Robertson businesses and has manufacturing facilities in Elgin, in north east Scotland, and Seaham, in County Durham.
The business is now one of the UK's largest manufacturers of high-quality timber-framed housing and commercial building kits, with a range of clients from self-builders to national construction groups, including a range of national house builders.
Neil McDonald, managing director at Robertson Timberkit, said: "Robertson Timberkit firmly believes that the professional development of our staff is not only an important part of the career goals of our employees but crucial to the future of our company."
According to IStructE, technician membership is considered the gold standard for anyone working as a structural engineering technician and is highly-regarded throughout the UK construction industry.
Bill Robertson, executive chairman of Robertson, said: "It's a great achievement for John and another endorsement of the group's commitment to the ongoing development of its staff."
