Scottish Borders Council (SBC) has moved to assure bus users that services are set to continue across the region.

Operators Munro's of Jedburgh and Mobility Assist have surrendered contracts with Scottish Borders Council to operate some local bus services. The current contracts terminate on Sunday July 13.

However, interim arrangements have been made by SBC for all of the services to continue running as usual from Monday July 14. All service timetables will remain unchanged and there will be no loss or break in any bus service.

Notices to this effect are being displayed on affected services. The only service which will have a change of operator in the interim period is Service 128 from Newcastleton to Hawick. This will change operator from Mobility Assist to Telford's Coaches.

Due to the need to follow European Union legislation, new contracts between SBC and bus operators cannot be formally signed before July 16. At that time, new contracts for all services will be awarded and any changes to bus operators will then be confirmed in a further announcement. All service timetables will remain unchanged and no bus service will be lost.
