Dunne Group Completes Bus Station In Dunfermline

The Queen Anne Street Bus Station, delivered on behalf of Fife Council, was completed under a 12-month design and build programme.

The new city-centre terminal includes a café, kiosk, public facilities as well as Stagecoach offices and a bus station management area.

The initial focus for contractor Dunne Building and Civil Engineering was the design and construction of the retaining structures which comprised reinforced concrete walls and the anchor sheet pile wall.

Further external civils works included the take-down and re-cited construction of several existing stonework features, the upgrade of the surrounding road network to facilitate bus access and the installation of new traffic signals to control traffic flows.

The structural steel-frame building features stonework, curtain walling and a sarnafil flat roof. Internally the finishes include blockwork, suspended ceilings, ceramic tiling, carpet, vinyl and bespoke fit-out works.

Dunne Group Construction Director, Patrick Reel, said: "It is extremely pleasing that the Dunne Group was involved in such a landmark construction project in Dunfermline's regeneration scheme.

"From the design stage through to construction, we have remained focused on creating purpose-built premises for a modern bus station with a full range of facilities.

"We were delighted to deliver on the project outcomes and hope bus users find the new facility more than adequate for their needs."

Leader of the Administration in Fife Council, Councillor Peter Grant said: "I was delighted to officially open this superb new facility. It is a credit to all those involved that we now have a bus station which will hopefully bring many benefits to the local economy. It also completes the upgrade and replacement of all the bus stations in Fife."

Fife's Head of Transportation Services, Dr Bob McLellan commented: "It's great to see such a wonderful facility completed on time and within budget and a big thank you to all involved is very much merited and a big thank you to the local community for their patience during the construction period."
