Miller Construction has been awarded two contracts by Costco Wholesale UK Ltd to build a new warehouse club and extend one of its existing units.
The leading construction firm won a multi million pound contract for the new-build of a Costco warehouse club in Croydon, which will span 12,900 sq metres on a nine acre plot.
The work will include the demolition of the former Ford Motor Company metal parts plant, which was previously part of Croydon Airport, together with storage tanks and air raid shelters.
In addition, Miller Construction has been awarded a £4m contract to build a 2,000 sq metre extension to Costco's Edinburgh club. The work involves the refurbishment of the existing building and fit-out of the new areas, as well as the creation of new receiving bay infrastructure.
In recent years Miller Construction has delivered a number of Costco outlets at various locations throughout the UK.
Gordon Kew, Regional Director of Major Projects, Miller Construction, said: "We are delighted to have secured these contracts from Costco - a valued client with whom we have established a great relationship. The high standard of our work has earned us this repeat business and we look forward to delivering more top quality outlets for Costco."
Nick Deeks, Director of International Real Estate, Costco Wholesale, said: "The new warehouse club at Croydon and the extension at Edinburgh will ensure that we continue to deliver first class facilities and services to our members. Having successfully worked with Miller Construction previously on a number of our units, we know that these two new projects will be delivered on time, on budget and will be of the highest standard."
Projects undertaken for Costco include newly built warehouse club outlets, as well as external works and landscaping. Costco outlets built by Miller Construction to date are based in Aberdeen, Gateshead, Glasgow, Chingford, Bristol and Edinburgh.
