Members of Stirling Council's Executive Committee have agreed an unprecedented level of spending on Stirling's roads.
Spending plans total £42m over the next five years.
The money will be spent on roads maintenance and associated improvement schemes, as well as implementing the Council's City Transport Strategy.
Major projects to be completed during this time include the completion of the Western Park and Ride site and the upgrading of key routes and junctions leading into the city centre.
Additional projects will include city centre bus priority initiatives and expansion of 20 mph zones in and around the city centre.
Improvements to the road network across the council area will continue, with £6.32m pounds being spent each year for the next five years on carriageway resurfacing and improvement schemes, including white lining and replacing road signs and catseyes.
Commenting on the spending decisions Councillor Jim Thomson, executive member with portfolio for environment said: "Improving the roads network in both rural and urban areas is a top priority for communities and that's why I'm pleased we have demonstrated a long-term investment commitment to carrying out this work. Better roads and a good transport network will help the local economy grow and make Stirling an even more attractive place to live, work, visit and do business."
One hundred and eleven road resurfacing and associated improvement schemes will take place during the current financial year. Full details of this year's proposed work programme will be available on the Council's website.
Community Councils will be consulted on resurfacing and improvement projects for future years.
