Bridge refurbishment on the M80 north of Junction 7, Haggs, is now substantially complete, with BEAR Scotland confirming that no further daytime traffic restrictions are required.
The final weekend contraflow planned for 9–12 July will no longer go ahead.
The scheme, delivered by BEAR Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland, has involved refurbishing the bridge that carries the motorway over Station Road and had previously necessitated a series of weekend contraflows reducing traffic to a single lane.
A temporary 40mph speed limit remains in place while a separate project to replace a nearby motorway gantry is completed.
Overnight carriageway closures will still be needed to remove temporary barriers and traffic management put in place over recent months. Dates will be confirmed and published once available.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland's South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: "These bridge refurbishment works on the M80 have progressed well and are now substantially complete, so the final weekend contraflow that had been scheduled is no longer required.
"We appreciate that these essential works have caused significant disruption to users of the M80 over the past few months, and we’re grateful for their patience and understanding.
"The project to refurbish and re-waterproof this bridge will ensure that it continues to provide safe and reliable service for years to come, reducing the need for reactive closures of the M80 to repair defects caused by underlying bridge deck issues."
