Morrison Construction has been officially appointed to deliver the £56 million Hawick High School redevelopment project, representing a major infrastructure investment in the Scottish Borders' education estate.
Procured through Hub South East on behalf of Scottish Borders Council, the capital project involves the demolition and replacement of the existing school infrastructure. In its place, a modern, four-storey educational facility will be constructed within the current site footprint.
The new building has been designed to accommodate a maximum capacity of 900 pupils. Additionally, the complex will integrate a dedicated Enhanced Provision unit engineered to support a further 25 students with specialist requirements.
While education on this historic site dates back to 1711, the new structural development is intended to modernise the delivery of the curriculum. The facility will feature highly flexible learning environments designed to serve future generations and provide enhanced resource support for the wider Hawick school cluster.
David Ewing, Managing Director for Morrison Construction Building Central, said: "We are proud to be delivering a high-quality, modern facility that will support the future of education in the Scottish Borders. This project represents a significant investment in the local community, and we look forward to working closely with our partners to create a school that will benefit pupils, staff and the wider community for generations to come."
