CCG (Scotland) is advancing more than 220 new council homes across two Coatbridge sites for North Lanarkshire Council, supported by £24.8m in Scottish Government grant within a £50.5m overall investment.
Works are well underway at School Street and Dunottar Avenue, forming part of North Lanarkshire Council's programme to deliver 6,000 new homes by 2035 and underpinning regeneration and investment in the town.
At School Street, the former Columba High School site is being redeveloped into 127 affordable homes, spanning flats, semi‑detached houses and bungalows. The plans include 22 wheelchair‑suitable homes and 57 amenity‑standard properties designed to be adaptable as tenants' needs evolve. Constructed using advanced offsite methods to enhance quality, energy efficiency and delivery speed, the homes will incorporate solar panels and EV charging, with first residents expected to move in this summer.
Progress is also strong at Dunottar Avenue in Shawhead, where 100 affordable homes are being built on the site of former low‑rise flats. The development comprises 76 houses and cottage flats alongside 24 flats, with 11 homes designed for wheelchair users. Low‑carbon heating, including air‑source heat pumps and exhaust air systems, will be installed, and the wider site will feature a multi‑use games area and a new play park.
The two Coatbridge projects represent a combined investment of £50.5m, including £24.8m in Scottish Government grant funding.
David Wylie, Managing Director at CCG (Scotland), said: "These two developments represent a significant investment in Coatbridge and underline the strength of our long‑standing partnership with North Lanarkshire Council.
"Beyond delivering much‑needed affordable homes, both projects are creating local jobs, supporting skills and training, and generating positive social and economic benefits for the surrounding communities. It's encouraging to see strong progress on site and the transformation already taking shape."
Across both locations, construction activity has created 10 new jobs and 4 apprenticeships, delivered 26 work placements, hosted career events with local schools, and channelled £18,000 investment to ensure benefits are felt across the community.
Alongside a third development in Viewpark, the programme will deliver 253 affordable homes by mid‑2027, further reinforcing the partnership between CCG and North Lanarkshire Council.
James Stevenson, Housing Development Manager said:
"North Lanarkshire Council has one of the most ambitious new council housebuilding programmes in the country and is making real progress in delivering new homes for tenants across the area.
"The two Coatbridge developments being delivered by CCG are taking shape and will not only bring modern, affordable homes to the area but will roll out benefits to the local community, including jobs, work experience placements and support for community projects.
"These new homes transform local communities and meet the needs and aspirations of our tenants now and for generations to come."
