Essential road repairs are set to take place on Sydes Brae in Blantyre next week, as part of an ongoing commitment to maintaining and improving the local transport network. The works are scheduled to begin at 8am on Monday 13 April and are expected to be completed by 8pm on Friday 17 April.
The project involves critical maintenance on the section of road between the crematorium roundabout and the B758 East Kilbride Expressway on-slip. These improvements are designed to ensure the long-term durability and safety of the route for all road users.
Colin Park, Head of Roads, Transportation and Fleet Services, said: "We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may occur during these essential road works. We are sure road users will appreciate the improvements once the work is complete."
To allow the repairs to be carried out safely and efficiently, the road will be closed to motor vehicles for the duration of the five-day period, with the exception of emergency services and vehicles involved in the works. Access to and from the crematorium will be maintained throughout the project via Newhousemill Road and Parkneuk Road.
A signed diversion route will be in operation via Hillhouse Road, Earnock Road, Newhousemill Road, and Parkneuk Road. Residents living within the immediate work zone will be contacted directly regarding local access arrangements before the project begins.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time while these essential infrastructure improvements are completed.
