SSE is inviting local residents in South Kintyre to attend a second series of public consultation events on updated proposals for the Tangy Repower Wind Farm.
The sessions follow consultations held at the end of August last year, when feedback on the consented repowering scheme was gathered. That input has informed the next stage of development, and the project team is seeking further engagement as plans progress.
Tangy Wind Farm, which began operating in 2003, lies around six miles north-west of Campbeltown. Its 22 turbines provide 18.7MW of installed renewable capacity but are nearing the end of their operational life.
In 2019, Scottish Government Ministers granted consent to SSE Renewables to repower the site with 16 new turbines with a maximum tip height of up to 150 metres, together with associated energy infrastructure.
Under the redesigned proposals now out for consultation, the installed generating capacity could increase to up to 96MW. This would be achieved primarily by increasing turbine tip heights, with the consented 16 turbines proposed to reach a maximum tip height of up to 200 metres.
Ian Stewart, Lead Development Project Manager at SSE Renewables, said: "We'd like to thank everyone who took the time to attend our consultation events last summer. We're now returning to the local community to continue that conversation, provide further information on the proposals, and ensure people have another opportunity to ask questions and have their say as the project moves forward."
Members of the Tangy Repower project team will be on hand at each event to outline the proposals, share information, and answer questions from residents.
Public consultation events will take place on Wednesday 25 March at Machrihanish Village Hall from 4pm to 7pm (Bayview, Machrihanish, PA28).
A second event will be held on Thursday 26 March at Campbeltown Town Hall from 4pm to 7pm (54 Main Street, Campbeltown, PA28 6AB).
