Apsley (Gartloch) Limited has revealed plans for a significant residential-led development at Gartloch Farm in Glasgow's East End.
The 49-hectare site, which borders Easterhouse, is already allocated for housing within Glasgow City Council's adopted City Development Plan.
The project, led by property developer Apsley House Capital, intends to deliver a new neighbourhood featuring a mixed-use centre. This hub is expected to include retail and community facilities designed to serve new residents and complement the nearby Glasgow Fort.
In addition to housing, the proposals focus on a landscape-led design. Plans include a network of green spaces, allotments, and improved access to the Seven Lochs Wetland Park. Infrastructure upgrades are also proposed to prioritise active travel, with new walking and cycling connections throughout the site.
The developer has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice (PAN) to Glasgow City Council. This starts a formal 12-week consultation period before an application for Planning Permission in Principle (PPiP) is lodged.
A spokesperson for Apsley (Gartloch) Limited said: "We are delighted to be bringing forward these landscape-led proposals, which will progress a site allocated in Glasgow's Local Development Plan and assist the city in tackling the housing emergency and deliver a strong sense of community.
"In addition to new housing, our proposals will also include a new mixed-use neighbourhood centre potentially comprising shops, cafes, restaurants and other commercial uses, supporting this new housing.
"Our ethos is for a landscape-led development which sensitively improves biodiversity and the natural environment. In tandem, if approved, the project will form a significant part of Glasgow's NPF4 goal of delivering 21,350 homes to tackle the emergency over the next 10 years. Through the consultation process, we are looking forward to receiving input from the local community, who will play a vital role in shaping our proposals."
The developer has an established presence in Glasgow through the Galliard Apsley Partnership, which holds consent for over 1,700 homes and student rooms at the former College Street Goods Yard.
Two public consultation events regarding the Gartloch Farm proposals are scheduled to take place at St Benedict's Catholic Church on Westerhouse Road. These sessions will run from 3pm to 7pm on 22 April and 24 June.
