Plans to construct nearly 296 new homes at Catherinefield Farm, situated on the outskirts of Dumfries, have received official approval.
The project will see CCG (Scotland) deliver 266 affordable homes on behalf of Wheatley Homes South, alongside an additional 30 homes designated for private sale.
This development marks the largest-scale project ever undertaken by Wheatley Homes South in the region. Designed by Collective Architecture, the site will include a variety of housing types tailored to meet local demand. A key feature of the masterplan is a Livingwell block, which will provide 41 flats specifically for residents aged 55 and over.
The Livingwell service is a Wheatley initiative designed to support older tenants in maintaining their independence. It offers a combination of personalised support, a consistent staff presence, and a dedicated programme of wellbeing and social activities.
The Catherinefield Farm site represents a further expansion of the partnership between CCG and Wheatley in the area. It follows the 2024 completion of the Locharbriggs development, which transformed a neighbouring former Currie's logistics yard into 86 new homes.
Alex Lamb, Managing Director of Wheatley Homes South, said: "This is a major step forward in our plans to bring more high-quality, energy-efficient homes to Dumfries. The views of the local community will be central to any new homes being delivered and will help shape the proposals. We were pleased that so many people attended our public meetings and shared their views on the type of housing needed locally. These new homes form part of Wheatley's commitment to delivering hundreds of new homes across the region to help meet the housing need, not just here in Dumfries and Galloway and across the country. With support from Dumfries and Galloway Council and the Scottish Government, we will start work on delivering these new homes in 2027."
