Six local community groups and charities have received grants from the Inch Cape Construction Fund in the final awards round of 2025.
This round prioritised well-being and participation, with most projects centred on physical and holiday activity programmes, outdoor exercise and volunteering, alongside initiatives to nurture Christmas spirit over the festive period.
Since September, more than £11,000 has been distributed to support people with long-term medical conditions and accessibility needs, vulnerable families, residents looking to improve their fitness, and the wider community.
Across 2025, 20 organisations from Prestonpans and Cockenzie & Port Seton have been backed by the fund, receiving a combined £37,526.
Launched in 2024, the Inch Cape Construction Fund supports community projects aimed at addressing the effects of poverty and inequality, enhancing the local environment and promoting sustainability.
Now moving into its third year, the fund is administered by Foundation Scotland, with grants awarded roughly every three months. Applications can be made at any point during 2026. Groups working for the benefit of residents in the nominated community council areas are encouraged to apply; applicants do not need to be registered charities but must meet standard eligibility criteria. Full details and application guidance are available on the Foundation Scotland website.
The latest six recipients are:
- Enjoy Leisure: funding a 12-week physical activity programme for local adults with, or at risk of, long-term medical conditions (£1785).
- Family Service Unit Scotland (Circle): holiday activity programme for vulnerable East Lothian families at local leisure venues, parks and beaches (£1994).
- Cockenzie & Port Seton Christmas Lights: contribution towards illuminating a living Christmas tree to boost village atmosphere and community pride during the festive season (£2000).
