Neart na Gaoithe Lands Top Honour at Scottish Green Energy Awards

The Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) Offshore Wind Farm, situated 15.5 km off the coast of Fife and brought to full operation earlier this year, has been recognised with a top industry award at the annual Scottish Green Energy Awards.

The 450MW wind farm scooped the highly coveted 'Outstanding Project Award' at this year's ceremony, which took place in Edinburgh. The judging panel highlighted the project team for successfully overcoming major challenges, embodying the resilience and innovation required for Scotland's offshore sector.

The Scottish Green Energy Awards, run by leading industry body Scottish Renewables, is the UK's largest celebration of clean energy, recognising the organisations, people, and projects shaping Scotland's clean energy future. The sector now employs more than 47,000 people across Scotland.

• Champion of Renewables Award: Won by Sam Johnson of RES for her innovative work on low-impact lighting systems and new impact-assessment tools, alongside her progress on the Onshore Wind Sector Deal and Eskdalemuir.

• Best Innovation Award – Software and Services: Awarded to SP Energy Networks for its Local Authority Network Insight Tool, which provides clear visibility of network capacity, constraints, and indicative costs to accelerate local decarbonisation efforts.

Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, congratulated the winners: "The Scottish Green Energy Awards are always a truly special occasion and for more than 20 years they have been recognising our industry's unwavering commitment to setting new standards through world-class innovation and expertise."

She noted that the continued growth of the event reflects the "wider growth we have seen across our £15 billion industry."

The awards were headline-sponsored by EDF power solutions UK and Ireland. Chief Executive Officer Matthieu Hue stated that the high quality of submissions reflects "Scotland's unwavering role as a global leader in clean energy" and the collective efforts in the battle against climate change.
