Glasgow will host the Scotland's Towns Partnership conference this week, bringing together hundreds of delegates to consider how innovation and investment can reshape the country's urban centres and drive sustainable economic growth.
The conference, taking place at the University of Strathclyde's Technology and Innovation Centre on Thursday 27 November, will see attendees explore how Scotland's towns and cities can build resilient, inclusive, and liveable places for the next generation.
Key speakers at the event include:
• Councillor Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council.
• Richard Lochhead MSP, Minister for Business and Employment.
They will be joined by specialist place practitioners, community organisations, private sector businesses, and Business Improvement District representatives.
Councillor Susan Aitken said the timing for these discussions couldn't be better: "Scotland's towns and cities have undergone a period of profound change in recent years. So, these conversations about adding momentum to their renewal and unlocking their potential couldn't be better timed."
Kimberly Guthrie, Chief Officer of Scotland's Towns Partnership, noted the importance of learning from successful collaboration across sectors: "Only by learning from each other - and truly understanding the roles of public, private and the third sectors in working collaboratively - can we truly accelerate success for our towns and cities. Glasgow is a superb showcase of the art of the possible."
The event will feature panel discussions, workshops, and walking tours to see some of Glasgow's regeneration projects in action, as the city celebrates its 850th birthday.
