McTaggart Construction has completed and handed over a 41-unit affordable housing development at Fauldhead, near Kirkintilloch High School, to Hillhead Housing Association.
The project delivered much-needed social rented homes to tackle Scotland’s ongoing housing crisis, with properties now allocated to individuals who were homeless or in urgent housing need.
The development consists of 28 flats and 13 terrace houses. It marks a significant milestone for Hillhead Housing Association, East Dunbartonshire’s only community-based housing association, coinciding with its 21st anniversary and serving as its first new development in five years, adding to its existing stock of 830 properties.
John Jamieson, Chair of Hillhead Housing committee, expressed delight at receiving the high-quality properties.
"Providing warm, secure and affordable homes for the local community is our primary objective... this means that they can now get on with living their lives and fulfilling their potential free from uncertainty over their housing situation," said Jamieson.
The project was part-funded by the Scottish Government via an Allia charitable bond, with C-urb acting as the development agent.
Janice Russell, Managing Director at McTaggart Construction, affirmed the company's commitment to tackling the housing crisis, noting that building quality affordable homes "positively changes lives." Throughout the project, McTaggart also delivered a community benefit programme that included job creation, local sponsorship, and engagement with students from local schools.
