The JR Group, one of Scotland's leading scaffold and building firms, has announced a £6 million investment to create a new headquarters and warehouse complex on Helen Street, Govan.
The move has been described as "an emotional return" to the area where the business was first founded 30 years ago.
A planning application was submitted to Glasgow City Council today (10 November) for the redevelopment of the former Iron Mountain facility at 260 Helen Street. The 52,500 sq. ft site will be transformed into a modern office and warehouse complex for the Group's construction and scaffolding divisions.
The ambitious move is projected to create 60 new jobs and increase the company's annual turnover to £80 million within the next three years.
John Horne, Managing Director and Founder of The JR Group, emphasised the significance of the return: "Returning to Helen Street feels like coming home. This is where Annemarie and I started the business three decades ago, and we've never lost touch with our roots here in Govan. Investing in the area where it all began feels like the perfect way to mark our 30th anniversary and set the stage for the next chapter of our growth."
The new headquarters, which replaces the firm's 16-year base in Paisley, has been designed with sustainability and employee wellbeing in mind, featuring accessible workspaces, social areas, and a dedicated gymnasium for staff.
The JR Group, established in 1995, now records a turnover of £40 million, employs 65 staff directly, and supports over 70 apprentices across Scotland. The company noted that the move reinforces its commitment to community impact, with around 84 per cent of its subcontract work currently procured through local SMEs.
