The £59 million mixed-use residential development, Burnet Point in Edinburgh, has reached practical completion and is now welcoming residents to its prime city centre location on Abbey Lane.
Delivered by GRAHAM, the project is Unite Students' first combined scheme to include purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), build-to-rent (BTR) flats, and affordable housing.
The development comprises:
• 298 student bedrooms.
• 66 build-to-rent flats.
• 17 affordable homes, which will be managed by Hillcrest Homes.
Burnet Point is set to be one of Unite Students' lowest carbon new-build properties, having been designed with sustainability at its heart using low-carbon concrete and timber composite materials. Residents will benefit from communal indoor and outdoor spaces, including landscaped roof terraces.
Joe Lister, CEO at Unite Students, said: "We're thrilled to have opened the doors to Burnet Point in time for the start of the new academic year.
"It's our first mixed-use scheme combing student accommodation, build-to-rent and affordable housing, so it's a property that will serve both the student and private rental markets.
"The addition of 298 high quality, affordable student bedrooms in Edinburgh will help to improve supply, while also freeing up much-needed privately rented homes for families and young professionals."
James House, Construction Director at GRAHAM Building North, praised the collaboration across the supply chain, calling Burnet Point a "fantastic project that showcases GRAHAM's expertise in sustainable construction and mixed-use developments."
