North Ayrshire Council is inviting residents and interested parties to view and discuss final proposals for a significant new council housing development at Montgomerie Park in Irvine.
The ambitious project will deliver a total of 188 new council homes, marking one of the largest housing developments undertaken by the Council to date.
This £50 million investment, which is anticipated to be supported by a £25m grant from the Scottish Government, will see a diverse mix of general needs houses, amenity bungalows, and homes specifically designed for wheelchair users. The development complements the ongoing construction of 202 new homes at the former maternity unit site at Ayrshire Central Hospital, also in Irvine.
Councillor Alan Hill, Cabinet Member for Communities, Housing and Islands, underscored the scale of the Council's efforts. "In North Ayrshire, we have one of the most ambitious house-building programmes in the country and are already more than halfway towards our target of building more than 1,600 new homes across North Ayrshire," he stated. "The 188 new homes at Montgomerie Park will be one of the Council's largest housing developments to date."
Councillor Hill added: "We are investing around £50m into developing these modern, energy-efficient homes at Montgomerie Park, supported by an anticipated £25m in grant funding from the Scottish Government to transform the site into what will become a comfortable, vibrant and welcoming community. This is a huge commitment and demonstrates our ambitions to provide our residents with the types of homes they need, in places where they want to live."
Members of the public are invited to a drop-in final plans consultation event on Thursday, 28 August, at Lanfine Community Centre, Girdle Toll, KA11 1BH, from 16:00 to 18:00. This event will provide an opportunity to obtain detailed information about the project and view the final site plans and house designs. To book a place, interested parties can email the team or phone 01294 324031.
Work on the Montgomerie Park development is currently scheduled to commence in spring/summer 2026, with completion expected in spring/summer 2029.
