Clark Contracts hosted its 13th annual Spring Classic cycling event successfully raised £2,500 for its nominated company charity, Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH).
The event saw over 60 cyclists from the construction industry take on a 30-mile route around the scenic banks of Loch Katrine.
Participants were treated to glorious sunshine as they competed for various prizes, including fastest Hill Climb, Time Trial, Overall Men's Winner, Overall Women's Winner, and Overall Team Winner.
The competitive action kicked off with a challenging 3-mile Cat 3 hill climb up the iconic Dukes Pass. Steve Thomson of G1 Architects claimed the 'King of the Mountains' jersey, reaching the top in an impressive 10 minutes and 50 seconds, closely followed by G1 Architects colleague Colin Andrews with a time of 11 minutes and 2 seconds.
After a brief break, riders headed to the 3-mile time trial competition at Loch Chon. Steve Thomson once again demonstrated his dominance, winning this section by a mere 10 seconds, with Gary Clark from RSP Consulting Engineers taking a close second.
Following the races, cyclists enjoyed a well-deserved pit-stop at Stronachlacher for refreshments before the eagerly anticipated prize-giving ceremony. Steve Thomson's exceptional performance in both competitive events earned him the title of Overall Men's Winner. Colin Andrews received the Hill Climb runner-up prize, while Gary Clark was presented with the Time Trial runner-up award, having previously won this section in 2022. First-time attendee Roisin Crawley of Stallan-Brand was recognized for the best overall women's performance.
Given their strong individual showings, the G1 Architects team, spearheaded by Steve Thomson and Colin Andrews, was crowned the overall team winners.
Chris Docherty, Account Manager from SAMH, expressed gratitude: "Congratulations to Clark Contracts for organising yet another successful fundraising event and well done to everyone who took part! Everyone here at SAMH are so thankful for the support from partners like Clark Contracts whose donations allow us to reach more people and stand up for Scotland's mental health."
Clark Contracts began its partnership with SAMH as its nominated company charity in 2022. This annual event alone has since raised over £8,500 for the charity, contributing to a total of over £22,000 raised by Clark Contracts for SAMH.
