Work has commenced on an exciting new play area at Balgreggie in Cardenden. The £100,000 project, led by Fife Council, will create a modern and inclusive facility for local children.
The final design of the play area was heavily influenced by community input, with over 190 children from local primary schools participating in the consultation process. Their suggestions and choices have been incorporated to ensure the new space is suitable and accessible for everyone.
The design features a variety of equipment including a spica, tipi carousel, a three-tower unit, a balance beam, swing sets, as well as springies and stepping pods, providing a range of play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.
Councillor Linda Erskine, Fife Council's Spokesperson for Communities, expressed her delight at the project getting underway: "I am delighted to see so many young people participating in the park consultation. We're all keen to see these exciting plans become a reality. It has taken some time to get to this point but I am sure the community will be delighted with the results."
Councillor Erskine added that the council had been working hard to improve the play area, noting that the previous equipment "had reached the end of its life." She concluded: "We're now set to see a fantastic new £100,000 play park."
Construction is expected to proceed swiftly, with the new play area anticipated to be ready for use before the summer holidays.
