Clark Contracts, headquartered in Glasgow, has been named as one of 38 contractors appointed to a £380 million framework for the supply and installation of maintenance works for Scottish councils and housing associations over the next four years.
The framework, managed by PfH Scotland, will see Clark Contracts undertake a range of works including the provision and installation of kitchens, bathrooms, windows, doors, electrical systems, roofing, painting, decorating, property refurbishment, and external works such as hard landscaping and fencing.
The PfH Scotland's Planned Works Framework is structured across 12 regional lots to address specific local requirements. It offers social landlords flexible procurement options, allowing them to source products only, opt for a complete supply and installation service, or engage contractors for full property refurbishment projects.
The appointment comes at a crucial time for Scottish social landlords, who are currently facing significant unexpected costs related to the remediation of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC), cladding, and damp and mould issues. They are also working to meet obligations under the Scottish Housing Quality Standard, fire safety regulations, and decarbonisation targets.
Chris McGinn, commercial manager at PfH Scotland, commented on the framework's purpose: "When social landlords invest in planned works, it creates warm, safe, comfortable homes for their tenants, and it lowers the need for spend on reactive repairs. The problem is that higher inflation and rising prices, along with multiple competing priorities, have put huge pressure on already stretched budgets. We designed this framework with social landlords so it could offer flexible, low cost, high quality options for planned works, enabling a quick and precise match between their requirements and suppliers."
Clark Contracts' successful appointment to this framework will enable them to compete for a significant pipeline of planned maintenance projects within the social housing sector across Scotland.
