Essential under-deck maintenance work on the Queensferry Crossing will resume on Wednesday, 15 January, with a section of the northbound carriageway being temporarily realigned using traffic cones.
This work, undertaken by Forth Crossing Bridge Constructors (FCBC) on behalf of Transport Scotland, was initially commenced in December 2024 but was interrupted due to adverse weather conditions.
To facilitate the maintenance, northbound abnormal loads will be required to divert via the Clackmannanshire Bridge during the 16-day period.
Two lanes of traffic will be maintained in both directions throughout the majority of the works. However, traffic will be restricted to one lane between 22:00 and 06:00 overnight during the initial and final phases of traffic management installation and removal.
A 50mph speed limit will be in place throughout the duration of the works, and a free vehicle recovery service will be available within the roadworks area.
The southbound carriageway will remain unaffected by these maintenance activities.
David Bishop, BEAR Scotland's South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: "BEAR Scotland will be supporting FCBC to recommence this essential maintenance on behalf of Transport Scotland.
"To keep road users and operatives safe during these works, the same traffic management arrangement to that implemented prior to Christmas will be installed. This was shown to have very little impact on northbound traffic."
BEAR Scotland is supporting this project as part of its responsibility for the South East Trunk Road Network on behalf of Transport Scotland. FCBC and their subcontracted supply chain will be undertaking the work on site.
