Network Rail engineers are set to undertake significant engineering works on the Highland mainline over the next four weekends. The £9m investment aims to renew and refurbish key infrastructure, including switches and crossings, between Blair Atholl and Carrbridge. Additionally, the Rannoch Road bridge over the railway at Killiecrankie will be demolished and replaced.
To facilitate the works, a bus replacement service will be in operation between Perth and Inverness from Saturday, 16 November, to Sunday, 08 December.
Network Rail aims to minimise disruption and complete the works efficiently, ensuring a more reliable and efficient railway for the future.
Ross Moran, Network Rail Scotland route director, said: "The investment we're making will help keep services reliable for years to come.
"We understand that there's never a good time to close the railway, however, these works can only be delivered when trains are not operating on the line.
"We advise everyone planning on travelling on the route during the works to plan ahead and we thank passengers for their patience."
