Glasgow-based company Mackenzie Construction commenced works to improve Thornliebank town centre today.
A number of additions are to be made to the area, with a focus on revamping the back lanes behind Main Street.
These include the installation of solar lighting to light up dark areas of pathway as well as new trees, planting and added fencing.
Artwork, inspired by Thornliebank Primary School pupils, will also feature and an added new staircase and universally accessible ramp will make Thorntree Hall more accessible.
"It's fantastic news that we've been able to secure funding to enable these improvements for Thornliebank," said East Renfrewshire Council Leader Owen O'Donnell.
“I'm looking forward to seeing the completed project, especially the public art by local Thornliebank Primary School pupils."
Works are estimated to be completed in early 2025 with access to local businesses and properties maintained throughout.
The work is being funded by the UK Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
