Aberdeen City Council has submitted a £15 million planning application to create an urban park in Queen Street, a central component of the city’s broader redevelopment under the City Centre and Beach Masterplan.
The proposed park will feature outdoor seating, informal performance areas, a terraced and sensory garden, and improved street greenery. Designed to enhance both the environment and social activities, the park will focus on themes such as urban nature, community, heritage, and arts and culture.
Following months of consultation with local organisations and stakeholders, the park is set to be developed on land opposite the former police headquarters on Queen Street, with the future of the police building still under review by the council.
The park aims to improve pedestrian and cycling links between the city centre and the beach, while also stimulating investment from nearby private properties and landowners.
