A bridge in Inverness has reopened following a series of interim repairs.
The Infirmary Bridge was closed due to defects in the timber deck boarding presenting a health and safety hazard to people. Repairs were delivered to the decking, but faced delays due to a national shortage of materials supplies.
A major refurbishment is also planned for the structure in the future, which will see the Highland Council allocate £550,000 for steelwork, partial repainting and installation of a new timber deck.
The public are advised that a further future planned closure of the Infirmary Bridge for a period of potentially 2-3 months will be inevitable while the works are carried out on this listed status historical property.
The Council will be carrying out consultations with the local community, and other stakeholders later this year to present plans for the works.
