A series of essential bridge maintenance works are set to be carried out to Raith Bridge on the M74 northbound carriageway later this month.
The works will result in significant delays on the M74 in both directions on approach to Junction 5, Raith, due to traffic restrictions.
Along with maintenance work, the project will also see waterproofing delivered on the structure.
Work will begin on the project at 8pm on Tuesday 16 July and run for 10 days.
A contraflow will be in place on the north and southbound carriageways between Junction 6 Hamilton/Motherwell and Bothwell Services.
The M74 north and southbound will be reduced to a minimum of two lanes in each direction.
Road users are advised to avoid the area if possible and use alternative routes.
Graham Drummond, Operations Manager for the M8 M73 M74 Motorway Improvements Project, said: "Scottish Roads Partnership is asking motorists to plan their journey in advance and if possible to use an alternative route or mode of transport while these essential maintenance works are completed. Due to the nature of these works, there will be periods of time when concrete repairs and waterproofing courses will require time to dry and no works will be visible from the carriageway, however, the traffic management will remain in place."
