Keil Burn footbridge in Lundin Links has been officially reopened in a ceremony attended by locals, elected officials and officers.
The bridge was damaged beyond repair last year and for safety reasons closed. The local community rallied together and approached Largo and Area Community Council to fix the bridge. The community council successfully applied to Fife Environment Trust and Levenmouth Area Committee for funding and received £18,500 and £6,250 respectively.
Cllr Ken Caldwell, Convener of Levenmouth Area Committee: "It's great to see the Keil Burn footbridge re-open. Partnership working with the local community has brought this footbridge back into use.
"It'll once again provide a safe walking route for school children and link-up surrounding communities."
Fife Council supported the community council with their funding applications, organised removing the old footbridge and co-ordinated the works.
Peter Aitken, Chair of Largo Area Community Council said: "I'm delighted to see this project completed for the benefit of our community.
"I would especially like to thank Steve Wood our immediate past secretary for all of his hard work on the grant application, the army engineers from Leuchars for their assistance and the councillors and officials of Fife Council for their support to the community."
