A new Scottish Water project has been launched in Largs to upgrade and renew the sewer network.
The £2.2 million project will protect and enhance the environment of The Firth of Clyde and local coastal waters.
George Leslie has been appointed to deliver the works, which are expected to be complete in seven months.
Ruaridh MacGregor, Scottish Water's corporate affairs manager, said: "Protecting and enhancing the environment is one of Scottish Water's top priorities. The improvements being made here are designed to help reduce the frequency and volume of combined storm water and waste water spillages into the bay in storm conditions.
"This will have a significant benefit in terms of improved water quality and a cleaner environment which is good news for local residents and visitors to the area."
Road closures will be in place at stages throughout the project, and diversion routes will be clearly signposted.
