Allstone Glasgow has been appointed to upgrade the football pitch at Oakburn Park in Milngavie.
The contractor will carry out drainage improvement works as part of a £30,500 investment.
The work, which should reduce waterlogging on the pitch, was identified as one of the Milngavie Open Space priority projects in the Council's Open Space Strategy.
Councillor Billy Hendry, Convener of the Council's Place, Neighbourhood & Corporate Assets Committee, said: "I'm delighted that this work is now underway. Poor drainage can cause inconvenience to those who use the pitch and has resulted in a reduction of bookings in the past.
"The improvements will allow for more people to play on the pitch for longer and is all part of our work towards enhanced recreational facilities within Oakburn Park."
Sandy Marshall, Chair of EDLC Trust, added: "This work should ensure that during the next season fewer matches will be lost to the weather.
"Having a good quality pitch to play on will make it a great place for teams to play on and for visitors to enjoy."
The work is expected to be complete in four to six weeks, with the pitch available for play in late summer.
