Plans have been approved to build a new £21 million health and care centre in Greenock, Inverclyde.
The four-storey facility will be developed on the former Wellington Academy site to replace the current Greenock Health Centre in Duncan Street.
The centre will provide a wide range of services including four GP practices; community dental, podiatry and physiotherapy services; a sexual health clinic; treatment rooms; district and school nursing; health visiting; business support; home care and social work teams; child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS); speech and language therapy; out-patient and outreach acute clinics.
Cllr Robert Moran said: "This is a major step forward towards replacing the current, ageing health centre which is no longer fit for purpose. The new facility will provide modern premises and a wider range of services than are currently provided and will serve the community superbly.
"There had been concerns raised about public transport to and from the new centre and possible difficulties for people with mobility issues. The board has made it a condition that members should see and approve a travel plan."
The centre is planned to open in 2020.
