Plans have been revealed for a sewer flood alleviation project in Buckie, Moray.
Scottish Water is planning to upgrade the network between Sutherland Crescent and St Peter's Terrace by increasing the capacity of the pipe and minimising overflow during peak storm conditions.
Contractor amey-Black & Veatch (aBV) will replace the current sewer with a larger diameter pipe along a distance of almost 250 metres. A number of manholes will also be replaced, and a relief pipe installed from Harbour Head to the pumping station at Seatown.
Work is scheduled to start at the end of May and last for around 30 weeks.
aBV project manager, Ross Cumming, said: "This area of Buckie has been affected by flooding for a number of years so the main aim of this project is to try and reduce the risk of that happening as far as possible.
"We understand that the location of this project is likely to cause a degree of disruption for residents in the area but we will do our best to keep that to a minimum wherever we can.
"We've engaged with St Peter's Primary School and St Peter's Church to discuss how the work may impact on them but would also encourage local residents to attend the open event to find out more and to talk to our project team about any questions or concerns they may have."
Residents are now being invited to attend a drop-in event to find out more about the upcoming work.
The exhibition will take place between 4pm to 7pm at St Peter's Church, St Andrew's Square on Thursday, 10 May.
