Work is to begin on a £1 million resurfacing programme on the A78 next month.
Up to three resurfacing schemes will be carried out on the road north of Largs from Friday, 06 April.
Details of the projects are as follows;
• Largs North, resurfacing of around 1km from 8pm – 6am between 06 April to 09 April
• Skelmorlie South, resurfacing of around 1.1km from 8pm – 6am between 13 April to 16 April
• Wemyss Bay, resurfacing around 8km of road adjacent to the Wemyss Bay ferry terminal, from 8pm – 6am between 20 April to 23 April.
Alan Murray, Scotland TranServ's Principal Road Design Engineer, said: "We've spoken directly to community councils and asked for their input and agreement in the scheduling and format of this extensive programme of work. Key stakeholders have also provided their feedback, allowing us to run these schemes closely together so that they can be carried out quickly, and completed ahead of the tourist and event season.
"Due to the limited available road width of the A78 it will be necessary to close the trunk road to ensure the safety of our workers and of the travelling public. This unfortunately will mean weekend diversions. We would therefore ask drivers to carefully plan their journeys."
