Two schools in North Lanarkshire are to undergo a £5 million refurbishment programme.
The Braidhurst and Taylor High Schools in Motherwell will be upgraded to improve their heating, ventilation and internal decoration, as well as to reduce heating costs and carbon dioxide emissions.
At Braidhurst, the school will receive new high-efficiency boilers, heating insulation and improved ventilation and window systems systems by September 2018. In addition, new front doors will eb developed at the entrance to the building.
Elsewhere, Taylor High School will have replacement windows, improved insulation and ventilation systems and new cladding on the first floor. The school will also have a new entrance created and the internal vestibule will be revamped. Work is scheduled for completion by April 2018.
Depute Council Leader Paul Kelly said: "This programme of works is part of an agreed investment package that will undoubtedly improve the facilities for staff and pupils, reduce energy consumption and will help to extend the lifespan of the schools."
