North Lanarkshire Council has awarded a £7 million contract to CMS Window Systems.
The three-year deal will see energy inefficient windows and doors replaced in domestic properties across the region. The contract also has a one-year option for extension and will begin later this month.
CMS will manufacture and install windows and doors which are A-rated for energy efficiency and security certified by the police-approved Secured by Design initiative. A mixture of window styles will be utilised and either composite or PVCu doors will also be provided.
The new contract follows another similar £5m deal with East Dunbartonshire Council. Overall by 2020, the properties of all social landlords in Scotland are required to meet the energy Efficiency Standard in Social Housing (EESSH).
Craig Reid, Contracts Director at CMS Window Systems, said: "We’re very pleased that North Lanarkshire Council, like East Dunbartonshire Council, has appointed us to deliver its framework agreement for the replacement of windows and doors.
"CMS is built on a sustainability ethos, which extends into every aspect of the business including a commitment to apprenticeships and youth employment and as a major employer based in the Central Belt, it is extremely pleasing to know that the North Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire contracts will provide job security for our employees as well as help reduce the potential of succumbing to fuel poverty for many vulnerable residents in Central Scotland."
