Plans have been submitted to build a new primary school in Angus.
The Ladyloan Primary School will be delivered by Robertson Tayside and forms the second phase of the Arbroath Schools Project.
Designed by Holmes Miller Architects, it is expected work will begin this December and take 68 weeks to complete.
The new building will move closer to the harbour and look out across the North Sea once completed in 2019. The old building will be demolished to make way for a playground, sports pitch and parking.
Features will include 11 new classrooms, a nursery and associated sports pitch, landscaping, parking and drop-off facilities. Pupils will still have pedestrian access from Millgate Loan, while 53 car parking spaces will also be provided.
Overall, the planned school will have capacity for 335 primary-aged pupils, 72 pre-school children, and 35 staff members.
Ryan Holmes for Holmes Miller Architects stated: "On the upper floor of the teaching block the classrooms are stacked, all enjoying panoramic views to the sea and harbour.
"A number of consultations have been held within Angus Council as well as staff of the existing school facility. Feedback and discussions into lessons learned … have been taken into account and has influenced the design at Ladyloan Primary School."
The council also plans to replace Muirfield and Hayshead, with a consultation on Hayshead sharing a campus with St Thomas scheduled to begin next week.
