Transport Minister Humza Yousaf has called for meetings between various groups interested in operating on the A82 trunk road in the Scottish Highlands.
The discussion in June will focus on potential actions that can be taken forward for the route, which links the central belt with the North West and the Western Isles.
Over the last 10 years, £82 million has been spent on maintenance the road, with over £11m in the last financial year.
Other recent improvements include the £5m Crianlarich Bypass and the £9.2m Pulpit Rock realignment. Design work is also progressing to upgrade the Tarbet to Inverarnan section, which will bring further improvements alongside Loch Lomond.
Minister Yousaf said: "The A82 is a lifeline route for many and I know that some stakeholders and communities have concerns about the way it operates. This forum will allow all involved to get together and to have their say.
"The Scottish Government has made significant investments in improving the road in recent years with more to come, including the upgrading of the Tarbet to Inverarnan section. We also have maintenance schemes planned along the length of the route to repair the surface and improve safety.
"I have already had discussion with some of the groups involved such as A82 Partnership and the Lochaber Chamber of Commerce and the summit will seek to optimise engagement that Transport Scotland already has with stakeholders and key partners like Police Scotland and local authorities."
