A new multi-million pound community hub is set to be built in Aberdeen.
The Tillydrone facility, which will be developed on Hayton Road, has been awarded £1.9m from the Scottish Government's Regeneration Capital Grant Fund. The council has already pledged £4.1m towards the scheme.
Features of the new complex will include a library, crèche, cafe, business start-up unit and activity halls for fitness and recreation. On site council services will also be made available for housing tenants, community support and priority families outreach.
Other plans include building a new school and additional 'affordable' housing in the area.
Cllr Ross Grant said: "I welcome the news that the Scottish Government has backed this fantastic facility with a grant of £1.9million.
"This centre will be a crucial resource for supporting individuals and families in the local area and we have worked closely with local folk to identify a wide range of services in order to do so.
"The hub will have something for everyone including educational and leisure facilities but it is also important that we deliver services to help those most in need.
"The Regeneration Capital Grant will allow us to include a training kitchen so families can learn how to create healthy meals, a laundry room and shower facilities for those who may not have hot water.
"This is the start of the largest transformation programme that Tillydrone seen, the plans for the future are not just about bricks and mortar it is about improving the quality of life for residents."
