Demolition work has started on a business property on the A8 in Greenock.
Inverclyde Council's building control service is managing the demolition of the factory. It has been proposed to have the work completed as quickly as possible in order to allow the remainder of the A8 road closure to be removed and lessen the impact of traffic disruption in the area.
Work to demolish the building has been taking place over the weekend.
Councillor Stephen McCabe, Leader of Inverclyde Council, said: "The fire at McKechnie Jess is a blow to the business themselves from which they have the full support of Inverclyde Council to help them get back in business as quickly as possible.
"The fire itself and the work to make the site safe has caused a great deal of disruption to the travelling public. Our building control service has been involved since the early morning on the day of the fire.
"Now that the urgent firefighting role has been reduced, we are now able to proceed with the full demolition of the buildings at the site. When completed, this will allow the current contraflow to be lifted quickly."
