Fife Council employees are working 24 hours a day, seven days a week over the winter to keep roads open and safe.
Cllr John Wincott, Executive Spokesperson for Environment and Transportation said: "We're ready to keep Fife moving this winter. Over the summer we stocked up on salt reserves which should safely see us through.
"Keeping our winter fleet in good condition is key so that we can react fast when bad weather hits. We also have access to approximately 1000 personnel to work on the road network and arrangements are in place for external resources, plant and equipment."
To help the council decide which roads need winter gritting and snow clearing services first, they have been organised into four priority levels:
• snow routes
• primary routes
• secondary routes
• other routes
Grit bins are also being refilled will then be periodically restocked throughout the season. If a grit bin needs refilled, people are asked to contact the council.
Cllr Wincott added: "We welcome the self-help of Fife residents when snow and ice strike. In the past, communities have pulled together and done a great job helping to clear and grit the pavements."
