Plans have been submitted for a £75 million redevelopment project in Glasgow.
Developer Formal Investments is proposing to transform a number of landmark buildings on Sauchiehall Street, Renfield Street and Bath Street in the city centre. Pending approvals, work is scheduled to get underway in summer 2017
The scheme will see a new 12-storey building developed on Bath Street with 130,000 sq ft of Grade A office space. In addition, a building currently occupied by a BHS store will be remodelled and refurbished, while improvements will be carried out to a third building on Sauchiehall Street, overall covering a 240,000 sq ft area.
Demolition work will take place on a section of the BHS site to create space for the new building, which will feature 80,000 sq ft of office space.
The development has been designed by Glasgow practice Stallan-Brand. Its Associate, Patrick Wilson, said: "Formal Investment's proposed redevelopment presents a unique opportunity to revitalise and transform the quality of the urban environment and public realm in this location, through the creation of new public spaces and improved and more appropriate mixed use activity."
Formal Investments director Nicholas King said: "This proposal shows a really exciting vision for an important site in Glasgow city centre and will provide the highest quality environments for retailers and business large and small."
Brian Stevenson, Director of Gleeds, who have been appointed as project manager and cost manager, added: "I am delighted to be working with Formal Investments on yet another large-scale city centre development.
"This scheme has the potential to completely transform both the commercial and public realms of this part of Glasgow and represents a fantastic opportunity for business across the board."
